Cooperative Programs of Preparation for Ministry
St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute has a long history of cooperation with the churches and denominations of greater Baltimore. A formal relationship has been established with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore to prepare persons for lay ministry.
ROMAN CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF BALTIMORE LAY ECCLESIAL MINISTRY FOCUS
Through a generous grant, the Archdiocese of Baltimore has developed the Pastoral Associate Formation Program (PAFP) to offer master’s-level education to lay women and men preparing for (or already in) positions in parish ministry, especially at the pastoral associate level. Tuition is paid in full by the grant. Ordinarily, individuals apply to the Archdiocese initially and—if accepted—then apply to the EI. After consultation with pastoral and academic advisors, students enter either the M.A. in Church Ministries or M.A. in Theology.
