Youth Ministry Track
Goals
- To understand the biblical, theological, and sociological foundations of contemporary youth ministry
- To develop the leadership skills and ministry tools necessary for creative and comprehensive ministry with youth and their families
Ministries
This degree track may prepare students for (or enrich students in) paid or unpaid vocations such as Youth Minister, Director of Youth Ministries, and Director of Youth or Family Ministries within a church, parish, or denominational body; or as Chaplain within a school.
Required Courses
- RE630 Principles of Youth Ministry
- RE633 Pastoral and Spiritual Care of Youth
One of the following two courses:
- RE/SP734 Faith Development Through the Life Cycle
- SP630 The Spirituality of Children and Adolescents
One of the following two courses:
- PT725 Problems of the Contemporary Family
- PT741 Ministry with Families
One of the following two courses:
- PT/RE716 Youth & Young Adult Culture & the Contemporary Church
- RE719 Current Issues in Youth Ministry
An advisor-approved religious education (RE), practical theology (PT), or spirituality (SP) elective
