Ecumenical Institute Dean

September 1, 2011 — The Ecumenical Institute of Theology of St. Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore, MD seeks a Dean committed to the mission of the Ecumenical Institute, with knowledge of and experience in theological education within an ecumenically diverse context. The position also requires a collegial administrative style with other administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the larger Catholic institution of St. Mary's. The Dean, who should possess an earned doctorate, will also teach, engage in fund raising and be committed to scholarly activity and publication. Applicants are welcome from any Christian faith tradition.

Applicants should send a cover letter addressing their qualifications for the Dean's position, plus a c.v. with the names and addresses of at least three references to Pamela DeAngelis, Executive Assistant to the Dean Search Committee, (pdeangelis@stmarys.edu). The Search Committee will begin considering applications on October 15; the appointment will begin July 1, 2012.

Listening Sessions

In September and October, the Search Committee held "listening sessions" with the primary constituents of the Ecumenical Institute — including faculty, administrators, staff, and past or present students — to respond to any questions or recommendations about the search. Any questions or recommendations about the search can still be directed to Jim Buckley (chair of the Committee, jbuckley@loyola.edu) or any member of the Committee.

Current Status

Carefully considering applications will take several weeks. The Search Committee hopes to schedule campus visits in January and February — and will offer more specifics by the end of the current semester.
